System Installation Prerequisites

The following describes the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) components and what you need to complete to install and maintain the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) product.

You must complete all the prerequisites. If you do not complete all the prerequisites, the installation may fail or you may encounter performance or permission issues.

Complete the prerequisites as described for each of the following components:

  • Active Directory: Configure permissions to create a service account user in Active Directory. Active Directory is used connect to ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Databases and to run ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) services. (See Active Directory Prerequisites.)

  • Firewall: Open ports if there is a firewall blocking network traffic. (See Firewall System Prerequisites.)

  • Network Load Balancer: Configure network load balancer, required if you are using more than one ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Application Server in your deployment. (See Network Load Balancer Prerequisites.)

  • Digital Certificates: Configure certificate requirements for secure communications between ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agents and ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) servers. (See Digital Certificates Prerequisites.)

  • Antivirus: Review the list of ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) processes and paths to be excluded by your security software. (See Excluding ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Processes from Antivirus Software.)

  • SQL Server: Complete required hardware and software configuration for the SQL Server hosting ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Databases. (See SQL Server Prerequisites.)

  • SMTP and Email: Configure the prerequisites to send emails. (See SMTP and Email Prerequisites.)

  • Screen Capture Data Storage: Complete the prerequisites to manage screen capture data storage. (See Screen Capture Prerequisites.)

  • ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Backend Components: Configure the ITM On-Prem Web Console, ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Application Server and the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Website Categorization Module. (See Back-end Components Prerequisites.)

  • ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agents Prerequisites: Make sure to complete installation including the specific requirements described for ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agent for Windows, ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agents for Unix/Linux, ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Agents for Citirx.
