Screen Capture Prerequisites

Screen capture data takes up more storage space than metadata and is configured separately.

• File system storing production ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) screen capture data (ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Warm Storage) is formatted with 64 KB blocks.

• File system storing archive ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) screen capture data (ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Cold Storage) is formatted with 64 KB blocks.

• Hot Storage formatted with NTFS or ReFS with 4KB or 8KB (using higher block size will be inefficient as we are sending chunks in the size of 4-7 KB).

  Contact your storage vendor and ask for recommendation for formatting the storage drives to support application that is creating \ reading \ and deleting extremely high number of files in size between 4-7 KB) rapidly.

• ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Warm Storage is shared over SMB.

• ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Cold Storage is shared over SMB.

  SMB v3 is supported.

• ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Service Account has Modify access to the Warm Storage folder

• ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Service Account has Modify access to the Cold Storage folder.

• File and Object Access auditing is disabled on disks storing ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) screen capture data.

• Indexing is disabled on disks storing ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) screen capture data.

• Disks storing ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) screen capture data are excluded from antivirus scans.
