Unregistering Endpoints

In some cases, an ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) endpoint server needs to be uninstalled. For example, if the last activity occurred on an endpoint a long time ago, the administrator may decide that a license is no longer required for it. The correct way to uninstall an endpoint server is by using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel. However, there may be times when access to the monitored endpoint is not possible, and you need to stop a specific Agent from working. In addition, you may need to free one or more licenses to be able to install the Agent(s) on additional machines.

In these cases, you can "unregister" the endpoint (this can be done manually or automatically per scheduling). Unregistering an endpoint server will NOT actually uninstall the Agent software on that machine. You will still need to remove the Agent software.

The unregistered endpoint's data is still retained inside the database, and you can perform searches and watch recorded sessions from these endpoints. Note that any instances or modifications of endpoint unregistration can be viewed for auditing purposes in the Audit >Configuration Changes tab. For details, see Auditing Configuration Changes.

In the Deployed Agent Versions portal (located at the top of the Admin Dashboard), you can view the number of Agents that were recently uninstalled during the past 7 days. Note that the number of Recently uninstalled Agents includes Agents that were unregistered from the endpoint. For details, see Deployed Agent Versions and Recently Installed/Uninstalled Agents.
