Viewing Endpoint/Client Names and IP Addresses
Endpoints on which ObserveIT agents are installed, and clients from which a remote session to an endpoint is opened, can be identified by their name or by IP address.
The IP address is available in most locations the endpoint name is displayed, including lists and tool tips. In some lists, such as the Endpoint Diary, you can choose to view the Endpoint/Client Name or Endpoint/Client IP Address by clicking the toggle next to the column header. When the Endpoint Name (or Client Name) is selected, the toggle appears like this: . When the Endpoint IP (or Client IP) is selected, the toggle appears like this: . In some lists, the IP address is displayed next to the endpoint name.
The IP address displayed is the one used by the ObserveIT Agent to communicate with the Application server. If an endpoint has multiple network cards, and therefore multiple IP addresses, the IP address used to communicate between the Agent and the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Application server is listed as the primary IP address. Other IP addresses are listed in a tool tip on the Endpoint Name field in the Configuration > Endpoints screen.
The Endpoint List
You can view the name, IP address and many other details about endpoints in the Endpoint List.
The following information is displayed for each endpoint:
-
Endpoint Name: The host name of the endpoint.
-
Endpoint IP: The IP of the endpoint. If multiple network cards are installed on the endpoint, this is the primary IP address (i.e. the one used to communicate between the Agent and the ITM On-Prem (ObserveIT) Application Server).
-
Version: The version of the installed Agent.
-
Monitor Status: Indicates whether the endpoint is currently being monitored (Active) or not (Disabled).
-
Sessions: The number of sessions recorded for this endpoint.
-
Last Activity: The date and time of the last recorded session.
-
In the Group drop-down list you can select which endpoints to display in the list.
-
In the Search box you can enter an endpoint name or IP address to filter the list.
To view the Endpoint list:
-
Navigate to the Endpoint Diary Activities tab.
-
Click next to the Endpoint drop-down. The Endpoint List window is displayed.
Searching for Endpoints by IP Address
