macOS Big Sur 11 Solution

Due to changes added to macOS Big Sur, user administrator permissions must be granted for Mac Agent to access screen recording. You must upgrade to a supported Mac Agent version and grant these permissions with the new configuration profile.

Currently this upgrade is available only for deployment with JAMF 10.25 or later.
If you want to deploy macOS Big Sur with another tool, contact support.

Supported Versions and Upgrades

Required upgrades:

If you are currently using ObserveIT version 7.10.x, you can simply update the Mac Agent to Mac Agent Version 7.10.1.29 - Security Patch

If you are currently using ObserveIT version 7.9.2, you can simply update the Mac Agent to Mac Agent Version 7.9.2.15 - Security Patch.

If you are using a version previous to 7.9.2, and want to upgrade to Big Sur, upgrade to ObserveIT version 7.11.0.

All supported versions contain the new MDM configuration profiles.

For macOS Big Sur

IT Viewer Configuration Profile Files for ObserveIT version 7.11.0, Mac Agent 7.10.1.29, Mac Agent 7.9.2.15

  • IT Viewer macOS 11.x.mobileconfig (not signed, obfuscated)

  • IT Viewer macOS 11.x.signed.mobileconfig (signed, not obfuscated and read-only)

For macOS Catalina and macOS Mojave

IT View Configuration Profile Files for ObserveIT version  7.11.0, Mac Agent 7.10.1.29, Mac Agent 7.9.2.15

  • IT Viewer macOS 10.x.mobileconfig (not signed, obfuscated)

  • IT Viewer macOS 10.x.signed.mobileconfig (signed, not obfuscated and read-only)

Upgrading the Configuration Profile

When upgrading to macOS Big Sur using JAMF, you must do the following:

  1. Uninstall the Mac Agent.
  2. Remove the current configuration profile.
  3. Upload the IT View Configuration Profile file.
  4. Install the supported Mac Agent (listed in the table).
